Kelley Elder has had a passion for baking for as long as she can remember. As a child she always had a bright smile and a positive attitude, so she was dubbed "Smile". Being called "Chef Smile" just seemed to fit her comfortably.
As the mother of two boys, Danon & Devon, she fondly remembers helping the teachers come up with creative tasty ways to teach math. All it takes are graham crackers, fluffy buttercream icing and colorful candies to create math equations that kids love to learn.
September 2004 Kelley graduated with highest GPA and honors in Baking and Pastry from the Arts Institute of Seattle. Check out the photo album for pictures of her first chocolate sculpture called "Swimming in Chocolate". It's a 25 pound chocolate masterpiece that she considers the highlight of her educationalexperience.
You can find her on the class schedule teaching Cake, Pastry and Chocolate workshops at Sizzleworks cooking school in Bellevue, WA. She is actively involved in the food trade show industry giving cake education and decorating demonstrations and has even worked as a Food Stylist for Martin Yan's latest television series and cookbook. Check out her accolades for her latest adventures in the food world. Kelley says, "There's no greater joy then to share my passion for creative dessert with people that are hungry to learn."
Available, by appointment only, for creative consultation and design ideas, Kelley will create decadent cakes, chocolates and pastries with unique flavor combinations that are masterfully finished with her artistic creative personal touch. She is always ready to take on a challenge to create a 3-D sculptured cake masterpiece.
It's not just dessert... It's a memory that will last a life time.
